How did pandemic affect high schools in Northern Beaches?
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a deep consequence on high schools across the world, including those in Northern Beaches. This global health crisis has disrupted the education system, forcing students, teachers, and administrators to adapt to new methods of learning and teaching.
This blog will reflect on the impact of the pandemic on schools and in students' life for a better understanding! So, let's dive into it!
One of the major effects of the pandemic on high schools in Northern Beaches was the switch to remote learning. With schools forced to close their doors to reduce the spread of the virus, students were required to continue their education from home using online platforms.
This sudden transition was challenging for many students,     especially those who lacked the necessary technology or struggled to learn     in a remote environment.
Additionally, the change to remote education highlighted existing inequalities in access to technology and resources. Many students in Northern Beaches were unable to participate in remote learning due to a lack of access to laptops, the internet, or a quiet and safe learning environment.
This has further exacerbated disparities in education, as students     from disadvantaged communities are more likely to miss out on critical     learning experiences.
The pandemic has also affected mental health and well-being. Isolation and uncertainty have taken a toll on students, who are facing increased stress and anxiety.
 -          This has made it difficult for them to concentrate on their studies, and many have fallen behind in their coursework.
-          The lack of social interaction and support has also been a significant challenge, as students miss out on scopes to connect with peers and teachers.
Teachers have also been affected by the pandemic. The sudden shift to remote teaching has required them to learn new skills and adapt to new teaching methods.
-          They have also had to deal with the stress and anxiety of the pandemic, as well as the challenge of engaging students in a remote learning environment.
 In conclusion,
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on Northern Beaches high schools. The switch to remote learning has brought new challenges, including unequal access to technology, a lack of social interaction, and increased stress and anxiety.
Tumblr media
The pandemic has also highlighted current imbalances in the education structure and the need for continued support for students, teachers, and administrators. It is crucial that schools and the government work together to ensure that students in Northern Beaches receive the education they need to succeed in the future.

I remember exactly what my thoughts were when I first learned what had happened to my great-grandfathers. I used to talk to one of them —the survivor, who lived in Venezuela— on the phone when I was a kid, so I had always known he had had to "leave after the war" (Spanish Civil War), in a very vague sense. When I was in primary school, another class of the last year was studying the Second World War and my mother volunteered to share the letters we still keep that my (other) great-grandfather had sent from the refugee camp and from the front. So I guess it's just normal that at that point they also shared the "secret" with me. Like hundreds of thousands more, and like at least one person in most families in Catalonia, they fought during the war but feared what came after even more than the suffering of war itself. When the fascists won the war in 1939, they crossed the Pyrenee mountains by foot to cross the border with France (they cross into Northern Catalonia, the little bit of Catalonia that was annexed by France centuries ago) and escape the persecution that was mass-murdering antifascists. But when they crossed the border with France, the French authorities locked them in the refugee camps on the beach (my great-grandfathers were in Argelers beach camp), where they had barely any food or drink, no houses besides little tents they made themselves out of reels they could find on the beach, and very little clothes for the winter. Many people died of cold and hunger, particularly the children. When children were born, the mothers buried them under the sand because it was the only way they could think to keep them a bit warm. The humid sand of the beach.
And as I was hearing all of this, my only thought was: how did people let this happen? Why did the French government lock them to make them suffer like this? Why did the guards steal from them and mistreat them the way they did? Why did the people who lived near not give them food or jackets?
And to be fair, many people helped in some way. That's why the Swiss nurse Elizabeth Eidenbenz is a national hero for us Catalans. One of my great-grandfathers managed to escape the camp by being given work by a local man. However, a new war started in Europe (WW2) and the Nazis seemed to be coming near, and Franco (the fascist dictator of Spain) had given orders to the Nazis that any person who had gone on exile from Spain was stateless and could be killed (stateless: the blue triangle in concentration camp prisoners' clothes). My great-grandfather found a way to get to a ship to Venezuela and Mexico —thanks to the open borders of these two countries, thousands of people were saved and started a new life in safety. My other great-grandfather, however, used the only other way to escape the camps: when WW2 came, he enlisted in the foreign legion of the French army to continue the work of fighting fascism. His legion was eventually captured, his friend he had enlisted with was taken to a castle where the Nazis used him for experimenting, and my great-grandfather was taken to Mauthausen concentration camp and later killed in a gas chamber in Gusen camp at the very end of the war. And still, growing up I always heard that we are a lucky family, because at least we know what happened to him. Hundreds of thousands of people are still missing, buried in mass graves. The state of Spain (including Catalonia) is the 2nd country in the world with the highest amount of unfound people, after Cambodia, because of all the massacres of the fascists and the bodies under roadside ditches.
And for all these years I have always had in my mind: how could people do that? And how could people see it and allow it?
Now, we are all like the people of France with a choice of helping or letting it happen. The internet connects the world and we are all witnessing how Israel is committing genocide on the Palestinian people. After having turned Gaza in an open-air concentration camp for decades, now they have decided to completely wipe out its people, homes, cultural heritage, schools, hospitals, universities, shops, streets, sewage system— everything. And just like the people back then, we have the opportunity to help Palestinian people survive.
We cannot save our relatives, but we can do what we wished someone had done for them. If you would have wanted help for your family, if you would have helped mine, please if you can make a donation for Palestinian people.
Here's a list of Palestinian people who are raising funds to escape. Israel has made it impossible for Palestinians to leave the heavily-bombed Gaza strip except for the Rafah crossing (to Egypt); and then Israel went and destroyed the Rafah crossing, too. But the Rafah crossing opens every so often and the people with an Egyptian travel agency permission can cross. To get the permission, they must pay 5000$ each person over 16 years old and 2500$ each child under 16, and this doesn't cover transport nor living expenses. You can collaborate to saving a family by donating to their GoFundMe campaigns. Every donation can make a difference. Click each person's name to go to their GFM page, where you'll find more details of their story.

@Dravuni Island, Fiji:
A perfect example of timelessness, Dravuni Island is a Pacific island virtually unchanged for thousands of years. Dravuni Island is a very small island at the northern end of the Kadavu Group. It is virtually surrounded by the Great Astrolabe Reef, renowned as a diver's paradise. The reef was named after French explorer Dumont d'Urville's ship "Astrolabe", which struck the reef in the 1820's.
There are no vehicles, no department stores, no cinemas. In fact, nothing much at all that tells you we are living in the 21st century. It is one of the Pacific's most unspoilt destinations. It is also one of the least populated islands in the Fijian islands group, with less than 200 inhabitants.
Walk along Dravuni's pristine white sand beaches on a palm-lined path. Wander through the village and find out why Fijians have earned their reputation as friendly, smiling and hospitable people. There's a small school for the local children and a field station used by students from the University of the South Pacific to study the nearby coral reefs and marine life.

Ron DeSantis Net Worth
Tumblr media
Ron DeSantis, an American politician, was born on September 14, 1978, making him 44 years old as of 2022. While he was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, most of his childhood was spent in Dunedin, a town in the same state. DeSantis is a practicing Catholic, and he proudly embraces his faith. He embarked on his educational journey by attending Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School for his primary education. For his secondary education, he went to Dunedin High School. After graduating from high school in 1997, he pursued a degree in history at Yale University, where he had the privilege of captaining the varsity baseball team during his junior year. Eventually, his academic pursuits led him to Harvard Law School, where he continued to expand his intellectual horizons. Interestingly, DeSantis had early success on the baseball field. As a child, he was selected to join the prestigious Little League team known as Dunedin National. This talented team made it to the 1991 Little League World Series held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This early accomplishment showcased DeSantis' competitive spirit and dedication.
Tumblr media
Ron DeSantis comes from a family with parents named Ronald Daniel and Karen DeSantis. His father, Ronald Daniel DeSantis, shares the same name as him. Meanwhile, his mother's name is Karen DeSantis. DeSantis' great-grandparents were all born and raised in Italy, adding a rich cultural background to his upbringing. While growing up, DeSantis' father worked in the installation of Nielsen TV rating boxes. His mother pursued a career as a nurse. Due to his father's work, the DeSantis family relocated a couple of times. First, they moved to Orlando, Florida when Ron was born, and later they settled in Dunedin when he was six years old. Ron DeSantis' early experiences and upbringing have influenced his personal and professional journey. He is shaping him into the accomplished individual he is today.
Ron DeSantis: Political Career
In 2012, DeSantis successfully ran for the U.S. House of Representatives representing District 6. After serving three terms, he shifted his focus to his 2018 gubernatorial campaign. DeSantis has established himself as a formidable fundraiser, having raised over $100 million for his upcoming re-election campaign in 2022. This achievement is particularly notable as he is the first candidate in any state to reach this fundraising milestone solely through donations. While other candidates have also amassed nine-figure campaigns, individuals like Meg Whitman and JB Pritzker primarily financed their campaigns with personal funds. His impressive fundraising abilities position DeSantis as a strong potential contender among the 2024 Republican Party presidential candidates. Despite not being independently wealthy, DeSantis receives support from various sources, including state and national parties as well as wealthy GOP donors. He receives substantial contributions from influential Florida businesses and collects small donations from individuals across all 50 states.

It extended all the way to the northern border of the Greater Orlando place in Lake County. The district included Bradford and Gilchrist counties, as well as sections of Alachua, Clay, Levy, and Marion counties. However, most of this area now belongs to the 3rd District. Currently, the 6th District encompasses the majority of the land that was previously in the 7th District. Let's delve into the facades and fallacies that have ensnared this individual at its helm. Surprisingly, DeSantis' net worth experienced a significant increase due to a partial payment. He made a $2 million book advance. Consequently, his student loan debt decreased to $18,628.66, showcasing a tripling of his net worth. Overall, Ron DeSantis has seen fluctuations in his net worth as a result of his political career and financial decisions. Ron DeSantis vs Donald Trump: Who will be The GOP Candidate?
The Republican primary race has shifted its focus toward the scramble for dual place. Various candidates striving to challenge the front go between Donald Trump. Initially, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was seen as the leading contender for this position, but it has now become a free-for-all. In the early stages of the 2024 presidential ethnicity, DeSantis was expected to be in second place due to his strong campaign and favorable polling. However, his presence has since dwindled, with a more muted presence in debates and similar polling numbers to other contenders. A recent poll in New Hampshire depicted a close race for the second spot among entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis. Haley has been gaining popularity with Republican moderates in surveys conducted across Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. She is trying to differentiate herself on both fiscal and foreign policy issues. The race is also likely to be influenced by voters such as Thalia Floras, who plans to switch her party registration to evolve into an undeclared voter in New Hampshire. Floras intends to participate in the Republican primary and is considering Haley, Christie, or former Texas Representative Will Hurd. Her primary goal is to find the strongest contender against Trump. Hoping for an Error It is not unusual for a presidential primary to have a consistent front-runner and a changing roster of alternatives. Mitt Romney held the front-runner position, but his main rival shifted throughout the primary. At different points, it was Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, or Rick Santorum. The current cycle is shaping up to be similar, with a revolving door of contenders challenging Trump.
Ron DeSantis Net Worth: Conclusion
Ronald Dion DeSantis, also known as Ron DeSantis, is an American attorney and politician. He has a net worth of $52 million as of 2022. He was honored to serve as the 46th governor of Florida after representing the 6th district of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives. As Ron DeSantis pursues the Republican presidential nomination, his political career and personal finances are being carefully examined. The ongoing debates about the curriculum further complicate his campaign as he works towards gaining support from voters. Read the full article

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner on Sinatra, the tao of Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn,' and the songs that make him cry (Entertainment Weekly)
On the eve of their new album, The Car, the Britpop giants' frontman shares the soundtrack of his life.
By Leah Greenblatt, October 19, 2022 at 03:00 PM EDT
Soundtrack of My Life is a recurring column in which musicians recall their favorite songs, artists, and albums.
Seated in a shabby-chic hotel lounge on a blazing September day in New York City, Alex Turner looks like the timeless picture of a louche, untouchable rock star: slick swoop of chestnut hair, fine gold chain glimmering on his neck, indefinable swagger. Even his late-summer sweater, some kind of gossamer knit rendered in the rich sea-foam green of Pantone swatches or private Aegean islands, looks both expensive and effortless.
But the frontman of arguably one of the biggest bands of this millennium is endearingly uncool when it comes to showing up for the assignment — in this case a look back at the songs and artists who shaped him as a boy growing up in Sheffield, England, the only child of two secondary school teachers. "I was racking me brain for this," he admits in his undimmed Northern accent, holding up a little piece of paper covered in hand-scratched recollections. (Mistaking the hotel lunch menu for his notes at one point, he even cracks a self-deprecating joke; Tuscan kale, he knows, is not quite the answer we came for.)
Turner's deep-dive instincts and attention to detail track in his songwriting — bracing, immersive tales of late-night longings and intergalactic space stations, rendered in grand Cinemascope — and in the electric headlining sets the Arctic Monkeys have become known for, after 15-plus years of live shows and more than 25 million albums sold. In advance of their seventh studio release, The Car, the 36-year-old singer dug deep into memories of the Beach Boys, Natalie Imbruglia, and the stuff that middle-school crushes are made of.
My first musical memory
"It's always about being in the back of the car at that age, isn't it? There's a lot of things from that [era] I remember. Pet Sounds, certainly. The Carpenters. In me dad's car, less so with my mom at the wheel, there'd be a lot of Sinatra as well... My dad was a science teacher when I was born, but around that time he stopped teaching physics and started teaching music instead. He played in swing bands and stuff, so that was his thing. And the song I remember asking him to play when I was really little was Sinatra doing this song about how 'there's an awful lot of coffee in Brazil.' What always impresses me is the way Sinatra delivers the vocal, the timing of it all. And with the Beach Boys, too, there's something involuntary about the reaction, hearing those harmonies. It's magic. I mean even the name of it, Pet Sounds, and the sleeve, I think is kind of mad. Them feeding the animals on the cover? Now you can't think of those two words without thinking about all the harmony and the imagination that's in there."
My first time performing in public
"I didn't start playing guitar till much later. I used to go for piano for lessons once a week from about 8 years old. But I wouldn't say I really took to it. I don't think they were thinking, 'That's it, we found the thing! Here he is.'" [Laughs]
In high school you had to pick music, art, or drama, and I went for the drama, funnily enough. I don't think I particularly excelled in dramatics. But I remember in primary school, me first big moment on stage was when I was given the job of the narrating donkey for the nativity play. I mean, it was a lot of responsibility at that age to be given the job as narrator. They were like, 'But there's a catch: You're the donkey.' I was like, 'All right, well, I'll take it.' Matthew [Helder], our drummer, in fact, was also in that production. He might have had a more senior role. But his mom found some footage from it, which hopefully is under lock and key somewhere. [Laughs] Yeah, you'd need a retina scan to get into that vault."
The first album I bought with my own money
"I think it was probably the third Oasis record, Be Here Now. I was too young for the one before that [(What's the Story) Morning Glory?], though I do remember being aware of it. You used to always be able to get records in the supermarket, so I'd be in the store with me mom, and you might go around to that section and be like, 'What's all this?'
The first single I can remember buying is 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia, but it wasn't with my own money. No, wait, I might have done — I might have mowed the grass to get 'Torn.'" [Laughs]
My first concert
"I remember getting the train to Manchester to see the Vines in October 2002. It was me, Matthew, Nick [O'Malley, the band's bassist], and another friend of ours. I mean, funny that three out of the four of what became the Arctic Monkeys lineup were there. It wasn't usually like that. I saw that other friend a couple of weeks ago, actually, and we still talk about it now, getting the train in the morning, going right up to the front. And all the opening acts — this band called the Bandits and this band called Nada Surf.
That was really the start. We were going to shows whenever we could after that. We'd just started playing together that summer, in me parents' garage. We'd be trying to play 'Get Free' by the Vines. And the Datsuns — they had a song called 'Harmonic Generator,' and we used to do a cover of that. I'm sad that I missed [seeing] the Strokes in Sheffield for Is This It, though. I was a little bit late to the party there."
The song that reminds me of my first crush
"This is one of those things you're always supposed to remember fondly, isn't it? Sadly, I was sort of struggling to pin it down. But there's someone called Andreas Johnson, and the song was called 'Glorious.' It was on the radio a lot at the time. It had this big guitar and orchestra parts; it's hard to describe. And also maybe the song 'Crush.' I mean, it's a little too on the nose possibly, but the artist is Jennifer Page. Yeah, I may have listened to it yesterday — there was a line it in that made me smile.
I can't remember really talking to anyone about music at that time. A few years later I probably wouldn't shut up about it. I do remember we'd have these dances every now and again at school, and there used to be this one called the Snow Ball or something where two people would stand in the middle and were supposed to dance, but they didn't. So there'd be like a girl and a guy holding hands, but as far away as possible, and then the song would stop and they'd go and get another two people, and this sort of really uncomfortable line would form. I hadn't thought about that for a really long time."
The first song I ever wrote
"There's one that springs to mind, but it's a melody rather than the words. I had a dictaphone — you know the one where you have the little cassette inside — and I found that again recently, a few little scraps of ideas. Do I have songs that haven't found their way into things yet? Definitely. There's one that's tried to get on a couple of records and didn't make it, and it's probably coming up on 10 years old now.
One of my favorite songs ever is 'The Beast in Me' by Nick Lowe. A friend of mine was lucky enough to bump into him on vacation and he asked him about it then, and apparently he said that was [a song] for him that was sticking around for ages. So hopefully I'll find a way to get some of [my own] out there at some point."
The songs that make me cry
"'Les Choses de la Vie' by Philippe Sarde is from the movie of the same title — it's the main theme. It does a pretty good job of stirring up emotions without getting anywhere near words, which is something I'm becoming more interested in as time goes by. That's a beautiful piece of music.
And 'Where Did Everybody Go?' from Nat King Cole has incredible, incredible vocals. The way it's laid out, it's got this introduction and this sweeping instrumental section that segues it into another song almost. It's a really simple, straightforward set of words, just done in an excellent way."
The song people might not expect me to love
"I think George Michael's song 'Outside' is brilliant. I remember saying how good I thought it was, and somebody was maybe surprised. Just melodically, that bit in the chorus, 'I know you want to, but you can't say yes'? It's pretty exciting."
The musical moment I wish I had a time machine for
"The Last Waltz with the Band and Dr. John and everyone, that would have been an interesting night. Unique. I'm a big fan of that movie and the performances.
There's a live album with Sinatra at the Sands that is a favorite of mine that I feel would be an interesting show to be at in a different way. There's this song on there, 'Don't Worry 'Bout Me,' that he introduces by saying he thinks it's one of the best standards. There's a bit where the band is just ripping, and he sings this note that sort of slides up. I don't know what it is — it's a dolphin thing, it's a quack. And the way he makes his way through it? Beautiful."
The song I want played at my funeral
"I was talking about this with the guys in the band, and 'Dance Commander' by Electric Six is the one that sticks. We're kind of back in that 2002 region again, aren't we? But the lyrics on some of that shit are brilliant. Depends what kind of funeral you want, I guess." [Laughs]
Arctic Monkeys' new album, The Car, is out Friday.
This interview has been edited and condensed for length and clarity.

Mainly doodled these up for my own reference, but why not share? Kai and Jay’s designs for the first two stories of Legacyverse (even tho the second story isn’t up yet; was kinda hoping this would drum up some fresh inspo for it and it worked~) Hopefully I can get some other characters knocked out down the line...
More details of their designs and the UA itself under the cut (with light spoilers that aren’t actually spoilers):
Casual Outfits: Fusion of both the movie’s school outfits and the casual outfits from the earlier seasons. Kai’s clothes are a little tight since he hasn’t had reason to wear (or buy) normal clothes in a long time. Jay, meanwhile, always wears the scarf knitted for him by his mom regardless of season—but, if anyone asks, he’s doing it for the fashion.
GX Suits: Combination of the Legacy Gi, Movie Designs, and the DX Suits (with the Guardians as the main focus over the Dragons, hence “Guardian X-treme”). The Ninja get these suits after bonding with their respective Guardians.
Legacy ZX: Combination of the ZX Suits, Legacy Gi, and Movie Designs. Might actually change up these designs a bit in the future, but they serve nicely as a starting point. The Ninja get these suits shortly before unlocking their True Potentials.
Inheritor Symbol: These symbols are indicative of those recognized as legitimate inheritors of the elements. These symbols are normally designated as a straight up representation of the element itself, but the Core Four happen to be the exceptions, instead having symbols indicative of their Elemental Guardians.
Ninja Symbol: The symbol taken from the headbands of the movie suits; in the UA, these mark the Ninja as members of the Secret Ninja Force. Kai’s is the mark of the “Red Fire Ninja” while Jay’s is the “Blue Lightning Ninja”.
Spinjitzu Master Symbol: The symbol on the back of the Movie Suits, in this UA they represent the mark of a Spinjitzu Master. By the time Lloyd joins the team, there’s only nine Spinjitzu Masters alive, and thus, only nine total bearers of the symbols.
All right, General Stuff:
Legacyverse (aka The Ninja Legacy Whip) is basically a universe alteration where the events of the show occur within the world of the movie, with occasional tweaks/rewrites from myself (for example, replacing the Core Four’s dragons with Elemental Guardians instead, or that knowledge of the FSM + the elements + Lord Garmadon is not common prior to Garmadon attacking Ninjago City).
The Ninja go to Ninjago City High: in the events of the first story, Cole and Zane are juniors, Kai and Jay are sophomores, and Nya is a freshman (Lloyd at this point is of middle school age and is not at the high school…yet). The school is going to have more focus in the second story, which means more characters as well.
Prior to Kai joining the team, the first three Ninja basically did all of their ninja-things during the weekend, which is a full three days in Ninjago since a school week is only four days (so a full weekend is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, which leaves a generous amount of time for ninja missions—unless they’re so big that they bleed into the week itself, like an impromptu Garmadon and/or Shark Army attack, which results in many skipped or cut-short classes).
Ninjago itself is divided into six primary areas: The Northern Province, consisting of the colder territories; the Eastern Province, consisting of deserts, canyons, and stormy areas; the Western Province, which is where the main mountain range runs through; the Southern Province, which is mostly beach areas but also home to the most randomly treacherous places; the Central Province, which is where most of civilization resides and from which one can reach nearly anywhere in the rest of Ninjago within a day or two’s travel; and the Aquatic Archipelago, which is basically that little strip of islands that comes off the mainland and is where the majority of aforementioned islands can be located.
The Monastery of Spinjitzu (and the Mountain of Impossible Height) is situated on the western end of the Central Province; Ninjago City is located on the southern point of the Central Province, right on the border of the Southern Province, providing access to the beach and allowing Ninjago City Docks to thrive. Ignacia, which is an hour or so out from the city, is in the jurisdiction of the Southern Province.
Each Province is overseen by one of the aforementioned Guardians— Ruamoko (West/Earth), Eirlys (North/Ice), Tawhiri (East/Lightning), and Vulcanell (South/Fire). These four Guardians were also tasked with keeping the Golden Weapons safe, and only a worthy Master of Spinjitzu can take the weapon from them. It does not necessarily have to be a Master of the same element (...but it does help). The Guardian of the Central Province is technically missing, which is partly why Wu rarely leaves the monastery. The Archipelago is also rumored to have a Guardian, but its existence has faded into lore and legends no one, not even Wu, currently has knowledge of.
There’s also a time discrepancy, used by Wu to make it seem like the wars and crises that occurred in the past few decades took place far, far earlier, with the most recent one being the Skeletal War headed by Lady Iron Dragon (who most people don’t even believe is still alive). The true reason for the discrepancy is yet to be exposed, but it is the reason Nya got involved in all the secret business in the first place.
Elemental Powers, while known to most Masters themselves and some outer parts of Ninjago (like Metalonia, a place based on the Element of Metal) is basically lost knowledge to those in Ninjago City and the Central Province. The point of the Shark Army’s first attack, and their overall existence, is to expose these truths to the world over and establish Garmadon’s dominion over Ninjago instead of Wu.
Eye color also serves as an indicator as to whether or not someone is descended from an Elemental Master. The default eye color is black, but, for example, someone descended from the Element of Lightning would have desaturated blue eyes. Now, over the years, lots of people have been descended from Masters without really knowing it, and thus don’t blink at the different eye colors (hence why the average person wouldn’t pay attention to, say, green eyes) but those in the know would be able to spot the current inheritors of the elements by their white pupils (pre-potential) or colored pupils/saturated eyes (post-potential).
In the event of two Elemental Masters having children, the more “dominant” element will be inherited by the first born. So Lightning would be inherited before Water, or Fire before Amber (wink wink nudge nudge). Otherwise, the Element is always guaranteed to the first born. The two exceptions to this are the Element of Ice and the Green Element, both which skipped a generation, although for wildly different reasons.
There’s also the possibility of Essence Splits: meaning that the power of one element/essence from a powerful parent is divided evenly among siblings (such is the case with Wu and Garmadon, and the Time Twins). Elements can also be given up willingly, but there’s usually a cost for doing so, as by having a child, the body has more time to gradually adjust to losing the perks of the power. If the power is suddenly taken away all at once, well…the consequences differ by the element.
(This gets explained a little in the first story, but more in-depth in the beginning of the second story, so I’ll put it here too as a little teaser): The Elements themselves also work a bit differently from both the show and the movie: obviously there’s still the Four Core Elements, being Earth, Fire, Ice, and Lightning. When combined, they can achieve equivalent might to the “Green” Element, but whether this power is used for creation or destruction relies on how much harmony they have with one another.
The Four Core Elements can also be broken down into four derivatives each, resulting in sixteen total “Derivative Elements”. Each of these elements represents one trait that makes up the Core Element they are derived from. For example, Lightning is fast, so the Element of Speed is derived from it. Or how Metal is derived from the Element of Earth. When the sixteen are combined, their strength would be equal to that of the Core Four (and equal the Green Element by itself). However, this is impossible to currently achieve as certain derivative elements have been “broken” from the circle.
There’s a few reasons why Wu picked the Core Four to train above anyone else: he was very close with the previous masters, and had starting points for searching for their descendants; four people are way easier to find and manage than sixteen; a few members of the Derivative Elements are known to be displaced; and, while of equivalent strength, the inheritor of the Green Element is…well, someone he’d rather not involve unless the situation is at its most dire.

so i watched all the daniel craig movies.
When M returns, James is waiting on the balcony, one of the doors cracked, curtains shifting in the breeze. She knows it’s him right away—he hears her slip off her shoes near the entryway and pad over in her stockings. It must be a pair on its way out—in twenty years, he’s never known her to mistreat good clothes. He has drinks waiting on the low table, and she picks up the Jack and leaves him the Macallan, because she is a woman meant never to be understood, only observed and contemplated.
“This doesn’t absolve you of any trouble, you know,” she says, taking a conservative pull and sitting herself in the straight-backed chair, legs crossed at the ankles. “In fact, if you’ve convinced Villiers to give up this location, you’ve caused rather more trouble for me.”
“Be kind to Villiers, he’s got a delicate nature,” James says, taking a rather longer pull.
“If he’s compromised this, my eighth safehouse of the fiscal quarter, he can take his delicate nature and put it to better use assistant teaching a primary school class.”
James shrugs. M’s assistants never last long anyways. “I’m not here to absolve myself. Something different.”
“What is it, then?”
“I love you.”
M takes another sip. “Yes, I know. You’d have done rather well in a perverse Camelot, I’ve always believed. There’s something of a knightly devotion about you, and you have an anachronistic amount of experience at killing people with swords.”
“No, I mean, I love you.”
M pauses. She recrosses her legs, still at the ankles, the other direction. “What, as a man to a woman?”
“Yes, that exactly.”
“Don’t be absurd,” M concludes, returning to her whiskey at that same measured pace. James considers her. She’s in a good mood tonight, or at least too tired to bother removing him from her presence.
“I’m not being absurd.”
“Absurd, and a masochist, and your file will bear me out on that,” M says, like it’s a done deal. James gives up the pretense of good grace and downs his whiskey. “Oh, don’t pretend to be put out with me. I’m older than your mother was, it’s simply that none of the Brazilian beach volleyball players waiting in your hotel room bother to be disappointed in you.”
“I’m older than my mother was,” James says, “and I haven’t had sex outside the job in over three years.”
This time, there is a long pause. “That’s a shame,” M says eventually. “For a man like you, your age— that’s a shame. There is— double-oh’s rarely— but there is counseling for that sort of—”
James is shaking his head well before the word ‘counseling’ leaves her mouth. “It’s not that,” he says, then repeats, “counseling,” appalled. He’s thrown her if she’s brought that up, and it’s a strange feeling.
“What, then?”
“I just,” James begins, his thoughts formless in the air around him. It’s there in the way nights are still warm in this part of the world, the skies clear, insects humming but failing to intrude upon their little bubble. “I love you, and I want you. Do you want me?”
“I’m seventy-four years old, James,” she tells him, not entirely crisply. “It’s difficult for you to imagine the amount of wanting I don’t do.”
“Do you want to have me, then?” he insists.
She looks at him for a long moment, through to his core and past it in her usual way. Then, so fast he nearly misses it, her eyes flick down, then away to the jungle around them. “Good night, Mr. Bond,” she says. He stands up, gathering his glass and the bottles to return to the kitchen. “Oh, leave it,” she says, and as he departs he hears glass clinking faintly.
The next day, James is in northern Finland and M has withdrawn to parts unknown. In all, it would have been an easy rejection had it not been followed up with Villiers, he who checks the security system, saying, “That’s difficult, Mr. Bond, a tremendously difficult go of it,” and then asking if he’s really being fired for doing 007 a favor.
